Trumpet Store Opens With a Blast at PiCK Music

Saturday, January 26, was opening day for the new in-house trumpet store at PiCK Music Studios in Manchester. Several of the area's top professional players and quite a few students spent the afternoon playing an amazing array of trumpets, cornets and flugelhorns, a herald trumpet, copper belled trumpets, piccolo trumpets, and one in three keys with interchangeable bells.

The store is specializing in intermediate and advanced level instruments. Store hours are limited due to studio teaching, but the PiCK trumpet store promises to be unmatched in quality, selection and price for the student and professional players of Central PA. " We feel that good players should have good horns", says owner PC King. "The unbelievable thing is that our price for a mid-line silver trumpet is less than most brass start up instruments and it plays great. The instruments are made by Kanstul Musical Instruments in Anaheim, California. The quality and playability of these horns are very impressive. The response from everyone who played them is overwhelmingly positive."

The new pro shop is the only store of its kind in  this area. This is good news to a lot of people, considering the popularity of the trumpet in the school programs. The local music stores are concentrating their sales efforts on the school rental programs. By the time the parents have finished paying for these horns, the average students will have outgrown their entry level instruments. In many cases parents are under the impression that they can’t afford to upgrade, or are concerned that the student may not stay with it long enough to warrant the additional investment. Good equipment will. often motivate the students to take a more serious approach to music. A quality instrument sounds better, responds more reliably, and can give a student confidence. With no local source for upgrading instruments, people are either driving out of town or are looking on the Internet for good deals. Instrument repair technician, Bob Warfield has seen an alarming increase in calls from unsuspecting consumers who bought brand new instruments on E-bay with wobbly keys and valves that won’t work. Buying instruments sight unseen is not usually a good idea. With the PiCK Trumpet Store, that is no longer necessary. Store hours are (most) Saturdays from 12 PM-3 PM or by Appointment. PiCK Music is located behind the Manchester RiteAid on N. George St., 4 miles north of Rt.30.
